Thursday Night's Pick -- WIN!!

Thursday afternoon, I predicted the Tennessee Titans would cover the -5.5 spread that was granted to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Another handicapper was giving a dime to take the over total at halftime which was 19. Close, but NO cigar! The score at half was 16-2 (18) in favor of the Titans. Not knocking any handicapper's handicapping skills, though. You win some -- you lose some, right?

My handicapping was under different criteria this time. It just kinda boiled down to common sense for me on this night. I reasoned that both teams had fared against the Cowboys in very different fashion. (My own little 'how-did-they-fare-against-the-Cowboys' test)

It was pretty obvious for me at that point that Tennessee was the better choice. They'd given Dallas a run for their money, while Jacksonville made the Cowboys look like defending Super Bowl champions. It was no mystery to me seeing how Jacksonville's gameplay has really declined over the weeks. We're talking about a team that in the beginning had the fixings of a playoff team; at least.

Tennessee fights hard to keep their playoff hopes alive and still has a good chance to make it there. The upcoming weeks in their schedule will be somewhat of a daunting task but if they show up like they did Thursday night, then there's no telling how they'll actually fare in the playoff picture.
